Operational Update - Jan. 15th

OPERATIONAL UPDATE

Dear Members,

Effective Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., the provincial government issued a stay-at-home order requiring everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, for exercise or for essential work. This order and other new and existing public health restrictions are aimed at limiting people's mobility and reducing the number of daily contacts with those outside an immediate household. In addition to limiting outings to essential trips, all businesses must ensure that any employee who can work from home, does work from home.

Although Caledon Ski Club remains closed under the shut-down orders for skiing, snowboarding and on hill activity, staff will continue to maintain the Club for site safety; including water, sewer, snow removal and other essential services as well as prepare for re-opening.

Our industry association continues to meet and dialogue with representatives from the Ontario government and, at this point, the earliest the Club would be permitted to operate would be Thursday February 11, 2021.

All non-essential staff will be working from home, however, the West Lodge Administration Office will remain minimally staffed Wednesday through Sunday from 8:30am to 4pm.

The Club will continue to offer skating for Members only. In order to control capacity and ensure social distancing, we will require reservations be made in advance. We will send out a separate email tomorrow with details on how to reserve your timeslot for skating.  If you do make a reservation and cannot attend, we ask that you cancel the reservation so others may have the opportunity to use your timeslot.

Our snowshoe trails, ice stock and disc golf will remain open for Member use, in groups of five or less as per the new regulations.

For those of you who have cross country skis, we have a small loop set up in the field beside the disc golf area.  Cross country skiing is not permitted on any of our other ski trails at this time.

We also would like to remind you that masks must be worn at all times when at the rink, parking lots, in the presence of staff, when on busy sections of the snowshoe trails and whenever you are unable to maintain a 6ft or 2m distance from those not from within your household.

Our team has worked diligently in the last several weeks to make sufficient snow to ensure we have terrain ready for when we are allowed to re-open.  As we approach February 10th, and the anticipated end of the stay-at-home order, we remain hopeful that we will be able to resume operations in some capacity.

We will continue to communicate to the membership should things change giving this evolving situation.  We would like to remind everyone that decisions regarding credits for annual fee’s will be made by the Board of Directors and Management when the season has concluded.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented situation.

The Club thanks all of our Members for their efforts to reduce the spread of the virus as well as our dedicated staff for their hard work through these extraordinary times.   Our collective and supportive decisions and actions will enable us a chance to move forward and out of this current state of emergency in the province.
