Dear Members,
Your Board and Management have been closely monitoring the escalating COVID case counts and considering how the Club operations may be impacted. The Omicron variant has accelerated daily case counts to the highest levels yet in Ontario and public health authorities anticipate these counts will continue to rise through the holiday season.
Data from the COVID-19 Science Table shows that this variant is highly contagious, regardless of vaccination status, but we have also seen case counts decreasing as quickly as they have risen in counties like South Africa and Germany who are ahead of us in this variant.
We have considered this information, along with increasing reported incidences of COVID-19 within our Club community and we have made the difficult decision to proactively implement additional safety measures beginning December 27, 2021. This approach is pre-emptive and the measures are designed to allow the Club to stay open within the threat of Omicron while maintaining a safe environment for our Members and Staff where our Members can continue to enjoy skiing and other outdoor activities at the Club as much as possible during this time of accelerating case counts.
The safety measures being implemented December 27, 2021 are entirely focused on minimizing indoor activities that present the highest risk for transmission and include:
Programs – Will Run
All outdoor programming will continue as planned, including programs. Those registered in programs will only be permitted indoors, fully masked, for washroom and brief warm-up breaks. Priority will be given to our youngest participants.
Lockers – Will be Open
Access to locker rooms will be available for brief visits. Please remember to social distance and wear a mask while inside the locker buildings. Masks must be worn at all times in the locker rooms. Please ensure that you utilize the space only as long as necessary. Boot changing will be permitted in the Lodges. Please ensure that shoes and other items are stored in the cubbies.
Chairlift Protocol
Masks MUST be worn on the chairlifts when in line and when loading the chairlifts as well as when riding with someone outside of your family. A reminder that a buff is not a mask. Masks must also be worn outdoors when social distancing of 2 meters is not possible.
Badge Reminder
Please ensure you wear your Member badge with a valid 2022 sticker at all times while on Club property, including indoors. This verifies that you are fully vaccinated, as required by the Club’s vaccination policy. Please click here to see the best places to wear your badge for easy verification by our staff.
Our Caledon community is only as safe as each of us make it. We kindly ask that you consider the health and safety of others when following our COVID protocols for operating when visiting the Club.
The Board and Management will continue to review the ever-changing situation and will communicate with you as we know more information. The COVID-19 protocols announced today are temporary and will only be in place as long as necessary due to the rapidly accelerating Omicron variant.
We understand that this is disappointing news, however, skiing and the outdoor activities at the Club remain open and ready for you to enjoy with your family.
We thank you for your continued patience.
